I'm not a Crazy Ketchup Person, but I do like a little bit on a burger or with fries. Most, if not all commercial ketchup has sugar (or honey), though, which is out on the HCG diet. This homemade ketchup goes perfectly with some P2 Meatballs and on P2 Meatloaf.
Phase 2 Ketchup
1 6-ounce can Tomato Paste
6 Tbsp Apple Cider Vinegar (After a comment below, I suggest you start with less and add more if you like)
1 Tbsp Lemon Juice
1/2 tsp Celery Salt
1 tsp Paprika
1/2 tsp Mustard Powder
Pinch of Black Pepper
1/2 tsp Onion Powder
1/2 tsp Garlic Powder
25 drops
Liquid Stevia (to taste)
Mix all ingredients well, and store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

Looks great! Thank you. I have been wanting some for my burgers. I'm P2 still and a big Mustard by itself fan. Gonna try it today.
ReplyDeleteAny idea what the powdered stevia conversion would be?
ReplyDeleteI don't know, but I always recommend using just a little bit and tasting, then adding more until it's just right. With stevia, once you get too much, it's hard to recover from.
ReplyDeleteThis was HORRIBLE!!! It taste just like Grandpa's Super Tonic medicine. WAAAAAYYYYYY TOO MUCH VINEGAR!!!!!! I'm not sure how it could possibly resemble ketchup except for in looks maybe?
ReplyDeleteYikes! I'm really not a big fan of vinegar but I did like this one. I'm sorry it was too much for you! I will add a note for others to start with less vinegar just in case. Thanks for posting!
ReplyDeleteI made ketchup for the first time. All I got to say, is YUMMY!
Deletei used 3 tbsp of vinegar and 3 packs of powdered stevia and it turned out ok. I also added some water to give it a thinner, more ketchup like texture.
ReplyDeleteI used the same formula as Victoriah and added some to my Morningstar Farms meatless grillers. It tasted awesome! Thanks for the recipe.
