P2 Sloppy Joe

This was an easy dinner to throw together, since I had my meat portioned out already. I highly recommend weighing out meat portions and keeping them in the fridge ready to go, or freezing them if you won't get to them soon enough.

I tried this recipe with eggplant, which is rogue, but caused no trouble for me on P2. If you like eggplant, I'd definitely recommend giving it a try. If you are not a big fan of eggplant, I doubt this recipe would convert you. The sloppy joe is delicious on its own with your favorite veggie or salad on the side.

Sloppy Joe

3.5 ounces Ground Beef
1/4 - 1/2 cup Onion, chopped
1-2 cloves Garlic, minced
1/2 cup Tomato Sauce
1/2 tsp Mustard
1/2 tsp Oregano
1/2 tsp Basil

Brown ground beef with onion and garlic until almost done. Add tomato sauce, mustard and spices, and simmer until thick.

Optional: Serve over broiled eggplant slices (about 1 inch thick).

  1. This sounds so good. I was looking for some inspiration for a Phase 2 meal and this seems like a winner. :) Following the Hcg protocol is so much easier with your fun recipes.

  2. I love these recipes! I'm making these sloppy joes tomorrow (minus the eggplant) and I'm thinking of adding some apple cider vinegar to give it a sloppy joe tangyness...anyone else tried this?

  5. <3 Thank you! You can use whatever mustard you like, as long as it doesn't have sugar. :)

  10. Hi Lianne,

I really liked your blog, I'm going through P2 right now and I
having a hard time finding other things to eat.

Since I'm not a native English speaker I don't understand what "rogue" means in the HCG context. Would it be "cheating"? Could you explain it to me?

    I'd really appreciate!

  11. Oh sure! Anything marked "rogue" just means that there is some ingredient that is not specifically listed on the original Simeons Protocol, but I included the recipe because it was great for me and didn't cause me to have any gain or other issue.

Does that make sense? It's not really a cheat, but it's not 100% strict in the rules either.

  12. My tomato sauce has 4.6g of sugar in it per serving (Watties Tomato Sauce) which did you use @Lianne :)

    1. Tomatoes have a little sugar naturally. The key is to make sure your brand is not *adding* sugar - as long as it isn't listed in the ingredients it should be fine.
